What is IVF?

IVF (In Vitro Fertilisation) is an assisted reproductive technology (ART) where eggs are retrieved from the ovaries, fertilised with sperm in our laboratory, and the resulting embryo is transferred into the uterus. IVF is recommended when natural conception is not possible due to blocked tubes, low sperm count, PCOS, unexplained infertility, or previous failed treatments.

Step 1 – Initial Consultation & Diagnosis

Dr. K.D. Nayar personally reviews your medical history, conducts hormone tests, semen analysis, and ultrasound. A customised IVF protocol is prepared based on your individual case.

Step 2 – Ovarian Stimulation (10–14 days)

Hormone injections stimulate your ovaries to produce multiple eggs. You will be monitored with regular ultrasounds and blood tests every 2–3 days to track follicle growth.

Step 3 – Egg Retrieval

Once eggs are mature, they are collected under mild sedation using a fine needle guided by ultrasound. The procedure takes about 20–30 minutes. You can go home the same day.

Step 4 – Fertilisation in the Laboratory

Eggs are fertilised with your partner’s (or donor) sperm in our advanced embryology laboratory. We use Time-Lapse Embryo Imaging to monitor embryo development continuously — without disturbing the incubation environment.

Step 5 – Embryo Transfer

The strongest, most viable embryo is selected and transferred into your uterus on day 3 or day 5 (blastocyst stage). This is a painless, 10-minute procedure. Any remaining good-quality embryos are frozen for future use.

Step 6 – Pregnancy Test

A blood test (beta-hCG) is done 14 days after transfer to confirm pregnancy. Our team supports you fully through the two-week wait period.
